Hiya - not sure what ‘dropship’ is but I have recently started selling clothes on ebay so heres my advice :)

I’m 21 and have a shopping problem - I have far too many clothes! I started getting a bit annoyed about the amount of clothes that were just going to the charity shop - nothing wrong with that but most of it was pretty much brand new and some designer!

I was very stressed out about starting selling stuff… the thought of organising it all and having to send it out was stressful, but this is what I did:

First I ordered loads of plastic pouches, boxes and brown paper, to package the stuff up. Then set up my ebay and paypal account and bought a few things on ebay to get myself some good ratings (you may find people dont want to buy from you if you have no rating). I went to a charity shop and bought a ‘mannequin’ well half of one! Just so that I could take decent photos of the clothes, but you could also hang them neatly or wear them and get someone to take the photo - to be honest if they look good on you that might be the best way :)

Make sure you get a picture from front and back, show the label and tags if necessary, any damage too. Its good to have an idea of what sort of price you expect, to set a reserve if its something expensive or designer, and to give a good description of what your selling and the reason for selling.

Try and give as much info in your description as possible, and always make sure you specify whether you’ll accept returns and what reasons (eg - returns accepted if something is wrong with the clothes, but not if it just doesnt fit you).

Ebay also has loads of useful info on their site about how to get started.

Good luck :)

Sorry didnt read the bit about wholesale - but that could be a great idea too, just make sure to work out all your pricing first so that you dont end up losing out and find a good reliable supplier. Good luck

You will need to get a wholesale license. Most wholesalers do not sell to those that don’t have a license.
If you decide not to get the license, the IRS could come after you with a large fine.
The point of the wholesale license is to pay taxes to the government.
You can take the chance and find wholesalers that do not require you to have a wholesaler’s license… but I haven’t come across many that do.
Buying from a wholesaler is safe. However, there will always be scams so just keep an eye out.

Dropshipping is where the manufacturer or wholesaler sends the item directly to the customer. This is good for companies that want to save money on storing and shipping costs. But, I don’t recommend it for you since you will be selling on ebay.
You won’t be able to properly list the products since you have actually never seen them face to face.
I get all my merchandise shipped to me so I can inspect it before I put it in my store.
I have gotten items with holes in pockets, missing buttons, colors untrue to the images etc.
This won’t be worth your while if you claim your products are one way, and they arrive to your shopper another way.

If you do choose to go along with wholesaling, do not buy a wholesale list. They are scams and you will do much better searching for what you want in google. "product wholesale" "product bulk: etc.

Call your BOE offices and ask if you will be needing the wholesale license. If you don’t, then be sure to find wholesalers that don’t require it. If the BOE thinks you should get the license, be sure that you do.
The fines are VERY high and not worth it.

A wholesale license is FREE.

Good Luck!!

Don’t commit to any monthly fees with Ebay as their commission is hefty.
Do consider your terms and conditions for customers trading with you before you start .
A good easily remembered trading name is very important, especially when you expand your business.

Do some market research first…..

Who is likely to be your ideal customer?

What will be your plan when a parcel goes astray in the post?

Define refund policy.

How will you reward your best, repeat, customers?

How do you differ from your competitors?

Are your suppliers reliable?

Good Luck, p.s. the french love second hand clothes….
